Use cases

How is it proven that the rule was met?

Internal audit, the external auditor and the inspector ask the same question about every act of an agent: who authorized it, under which rule, and how it is proven.

The situation

The example comes from the mining page.

Illustrative exampleMining

The head of environment authorizes an agent to prepare the draft monitoring report and to escalate anomalies, with no power to send it to the authorities.

The four steps, in the mining example

  1. Authorization

An identified person authorizes the agent for one function. That authorization is revoked with immediate effect.

  2. Agent act

The agent acts under that authorization, and each act stays tied to the person who gave it. Refusal of acts outside that authority comes in 2027.

    Illustrative example

The agent flags an out-of-range reading and escalates it; she reviews and signs the submission.

  3. Signed record

Who acted, under whose authorization, and when. Every record is signed: a later alteration breaks the signature.

    Today

  4. Verification

Today, the signed record stays in the mining company’s own cloud. Verification on one’s own machine, without access to Unica, comes with the verifiable evidence package: as a service in 2027 and as a product in 2028.

    Illustrative example

With the evidence package, the environmental inspector checks that the anomaly was seen and escalated, by whom and when, without entering the company’s system.

Who asks for proof

Internal audit, the external auditor, and the inspector or the comptroller’s office.

Illustrative exampleInsurance

With the evidence package, internal audit reviews the claims, underwriting and distribution agents with the same signed record, instead of three reports prepared by hand.

Illustrative exampleGovernment and multilaterals

A comptroller’s office asks for the file of a tender in which an agent took part. With the evidence package, it receives a verifiable file, not screenshots or access to the system.
